    It would be awesome if you do have a spare cable that you could sell me.  I am in Canada but only 45 minutes from the US border.  There is a company on the US side that accepts packages (for a fee) on behalf of Canadian customers.  Even just mailing to me here in Canada could be an option.  Let me know.  Thanks so much!

    I did get it cutting with KNK Studio and the USB cable – so no problems there. Would love to be able to use the SCAL program though.

    I did try selecting COM7 from the menu – it did appear and I tried both auto and selecting.  I just tried cutting from Studio and still nothing.

    Hi Sandy,

    So here is where I am at; I have the rs232 serial cable and usb adaptor connected to my cutter.  Installed the downloads, restarted windows – showing “Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (Com7)

    Opened SCAL5 Cut settings; Model XL, Connection USB, Port Auto Detect, Baud 9600

    I have tried the test connection and got nothing, I tried text and cutting and got nothing.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  Any other advice to try?

    My RS232 cable arrived today.  Do you have a link to the FTDI driver that I will need?

    Will my machine work with Sure Cuts A Lot 5? I have downloaded the trial version but haven’t been able to get it to cut.

    Thank you – it is working now – just didn’t have the driver for the dongle I guess.  Appreciate your help!!!
